When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.

Overall Thoughts:
WHY DID IT HAVE TO END?!?!? This book was pure entertainment.

Bloodlines pretty much revolved around Sydney, Jill, Adrian, and a few others. Sydney's new Alchemist job is to be Jill's protector because her life is in danger, seeing as she is Queen Lissa Dragomir's only live blood relative. Those who don't want Lissa as queen see Jill as the easiest way to get her out of her position. So Sydney, Jill, and Eddie all set out to Palm Springs, California to attend a boarding school in the hopes that they retain a low profile and keep Princess Jill safe and sound.

Adrian appears a lot in this book, which actually kind of swayed me to Team Adrian! He and Rose didn't end off on good terms in The Last Sacrifice and we get to see some of the effects their split has had on Adrian. It makes me so... What's the word?... protective over Adrian now. He's become one of my favorite characters in this series. Next to Rose, that is. Oh, the irony. Adrian actually grows and develops a lot and I couldn't be more proud. Towards the end, there's a little special interaction between Adrian... and I'm not going to name any names here but... the girl with the golden lily (See what I did there?) which definitely hints that something may happen between them in the next installments.

Past characters from the Vampire Academy series showed their faces in this book, i.e. Rose, Sonya, Abe, and others. I was especially interested when Rose showed up. It was so weird reading how Sydney described her. I was so used to Rose's perspective that when it changed and someone else viewed her, it took me back a little.

Things I didn't like about this book:
There were a few slow parts in this book but not many.

Things I liked about this book:
I think it's safe to say, that I will like any book that Richelle Mead writes.

Verdict:
I definitely recommend this book to any Vampire Academy fan out there. It's definitely not as good or action-packed, but it will not disappoint!

Makes sure to check out The Golden Lily, which comes out on June 19, 2012. Its already at the top of my To Be Read List.

Excerpt:
"Adrian was standing against the wall, on the opposite side of the room. His arms were crossed defensively, and there was a rigidness to his posture that conflicted with the lazy smile he wore. I couldn't be sure, but it looked as though he was purposely positioning himself as far from Rose as possible."  Page: 64-65

  2. I loved the Vampire Acadamy series and was holding my breath for the follow up to come out, what a waste. No romance, hardly any fighting and the story line just seemed like the author was trying too hard and really reaching. The last ten pages were the best and if the whole book was that good this would be better than V.A. but after reading about Rose and Dimitri, a follow up romance would be pretty hard to top. Also, some of the characters that were thrown in to fill out the group were just kind of strown about, they didn't have much of a connection to the main characters, so why use them at all? But alas, I'm loyal to Richelle and of course I'll read the next in the series, I'm really really hoping she falls back into her groove for the next one.
