Sometimes sorry isn't enough....It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...
Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better--the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.
On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.
In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.
Em and Chase have been chosen.
Overall Thoughts:
I had some issues with this book. It was entertaining enough, but something happened in it that is one of my book pet peeves!

Fury is about two teenagers, Emily and Chase. They are normal, regular kids. Emily is the perfect young lady. She's supportive of her friends, popular, pretty, smart, everything you could as for! But she makes a mistake. A mistake that ends up breaking her best friend's heart. She is in love with her best friend's boyfriend, Zach. She can't help it. And when her bff is out of the picture, Emily acts on her impulses and kisses Zach. Then, they actually end up getting into it. You know what I mean! They don't go all the way though, seeing that Emily suddenly has a conscience and feels all bad. And though Emily is guilt-ridden and feels terrible for what she's done, the Furies think it's not enough, and they're going to do everything in their power to destroy her heart.

Chase's story is different. He didn't cheat. He didn't steal. He didn't lie. But long story short, he indirectly ends up causing one of his ex-childhood friends to attempt suicide. Yeah... pretty deep stuff. And you know what that means, folks? The Furies will have to find someway for him to pay.

In my opinion, both Emily and Chase are good kids, that made bad decisions. The Furies are just 3 evil witches with no life so they want to end others.

What I liked about this book:
It was a light read. Nothing too heavy. But it was a bit scary in places, so... caution.

What I disliked about this book:
I'm not going to say anything... BUT, one of my biggest pet peeves in books is when the author kills off one of the main characters. You have us get all attached to them, and develop feelings and opinions of the character... then you just kill them off?!? No sir!

Verdict:
This book was okay; very so-so. It had a few twists to it that kept me interested, but nothing extremely special.

The next book in this trilogy is Envy. It comes out in October 2012!

3 TARGETS!

Excerpt:
Emily Winters stood in front of her bedroom mirror, a fluffy white towel wrapped around her torso, as she tried to work a tangle from her dark, dripping hair.

The room was quiet, except for the radiator next to her closet—it made its trademark ticking sound, one that had kept her awake as a child. She always imagined an old witch trying to claw her way out of the wall. But she was used to it by now. Just like the tiny mole above her right eyebrow—she’d had it since birth, and the only time she ever noticed it was when someone else commented on it.

Someone like Zach McCord, for example. Last week in earth science, the class no one ever paid attention in, he’d leaned toward her to steal a peek at her quiz. Then he’d looked up into her eyes and touched the edge of her eyebrow. “Beauty mark,” he’d said. A shiver had run through her as he turned around, and that was that.

  1. I'm still sitting on the fence about reading this one, the cover is beautiful and the concept seems great. But more and more people (who i respect their opinions and tend to often feel the same way) are saying it was just ok.

I like that the characters are likable, although killing off a main character is frustrating to me, so I'm not sure if I'll read this one either.

Thanks for the great review :)
